Shaftesbury Youth Club has played an integral role in the heart of the Birkenhead community for decades. Trusted and familiar to the people of Birkenhead and wider Wirral area, the Club has supported and enhanced the lives of its members and customers through acting as a vital social hub and resource for sport, education and personal and career development.

The Club's well-equipped facilities allow regular social and sporting events to be run, from the regular youth club to private functions and themed parties. Social events often incorporate the active participation of the attendees in organising and running them such as in creating decorations or providing refreshments and entertainment.

Sport, fitness and particularly football is a central activity at Shaftes. Regular youth teams, local leagues and private groups enjoy the choice of several well-maintained artifical and grass pitches and major Merseyside teams such as Everton and Tranmere Rovers have forged strong links with the Club to support and nurture local talent. The large sports hall offers a perfect venue for other indoor sports and activities such as the taikwondo club and inflatable assault course.

The mentorship and education services provided by the experienced staff have enabled students struggling with the conventional education system to gain qualifications and further their education and careers. Close ties with the Merseyside Police and Fire Brigade and military services provide inspiration and career opportunities for young people unsuited for more academic education.
